Terms of Service
Last Updated: May 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Squiz mobile application ("App") or the Squiz web challenges website at defis.squiz-app.com ("Web Challenges"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App or Web Challenges. Unless a section states otherwise, references to the "App" or "Service" apply to the mobile application only.
2. Description of Service
Squiz provides interactive quiz-based educational content through:
- The App: a mobile learning application with courses, lessons, quizzes, progress tracking, accounts, and optional paid subscription (Squiz Plus) where available in your region; and
- The Web Challenges: a browser-based website where you can play selected quiz challenges, compare scores, share challenge links with friends, and view content credits, without creating a Squiz account.
The App includes, in particular:
- Access to educational courses and lessons
- Interactive quiz sessions with various question types
- Progress tracking and learning analytics
- User account management and authentication
- Multi-language support
The Web Challenges are provided free of charge in the browser. They do not include Squiz Plus subscriptions, full course access, or account synchronization with the App unless we explicitly add such features later.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App or Web Challenges. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent's or guardian's permission to use them. By using the App or Web Challenges, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
4. User Accounts
This section applies to the App. The Web Challenges can be used without a Squiz account.
4.1 Account Creation
To use certain features of the App, you may need to create an account. You can create an account using:
- Email address and password
- Google account
- Apple ID
- Guest account (limited functionality)
4.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to:
- Use a strong, unique password for your account
- Not share your account credentials with anyone
- Notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account
- Maintain the security of your device
4.3 Account Responsibility
You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized use of your account.
4.4 Guest Use, Subscriptions, and Your Store Account
If you use a guest account, your learning progress in the App may be tied to that limited session. A paid subscription (Squiz Plus), when offered, is purchased through and managed by Apple App Store or Google Play under your store account, not by your Squiz in-app identity alone. Your in-app account (including a guest session) and your store billing account can therefore be out of sync. You are responsible for creating and maintaining a full Squiz account if you want a stable link between your progress and your use of the Service, especially while subscribed. Deleting your Squiz account, deleting in-app data, or uninstalling the App does not automatically cancel a store subscription or stop future charges; you must manage cancellation and billing in your store account settings.
5. Use of the Service
5.1 Permitted Use
You may use the App and Web Challenges for personal, non-commercial educational purposes in accordance with these Terms.
5.2 Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Use the App or Web Challenges for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any accounts, systems, or networks
- Interfere with or disrupt the App, Web Challenges, or servers connected to them
- Use automated systems, bots, or scripts to access or interact with the App or Web Challenges, including to submit scores artificially or scrape content at scale
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App or Web Challenges
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App, Web Challenges, or their content
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
- Use the App or Web Challenges to transmit any malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
- Manipulate rankings, percentiles, or score statistics on the Web Challenges through fraudulent or abusive behavior
5.3 Web Challenges
When you use the Web Challenges:
- your quiz score may be stored on our servers and used to calculate rankings or percentiles for that challenge;
- we may generate an anonymous browser identifier to limit duplicate submissions from the same browser, as described in our Privacy Policy;
- sharing a challenge link (for example to invite a friend to beat your score) may expose the score encoded in that link to anyone with the URL;
- clearing your browser storage may reset local progress, language preference, or cached content on your device.
6. Content and Intellectual Property
6.1 Our Content
All content, features, and functionality of the App and Web Challenges, including but not limited to text, graphics, images, quizzes, courses, lessons, and software, are owned by Squiz or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
6.2 Limited License
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the App and Web Challenges for your personal, non-commercial educational purposes.
6.3 Restrictions
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any of the material made available through the App or Web Challenges without our prior written consent.
7. User Progress and Data
Your learning progress, quiz results, and other data are stored to provide the services. For more information about how we collect, use, and protect your data, please refer to our Privacy Policy. You acknowledge that:
- In the App, your progress data is linked to your account
- On the Web Challenges, progress and preferences may be stored locally in your browser and challenge scores may be stored on our servers without a Squiz account
- We may use anonymized data for analytics and service improvement in the App; the Web Challenges do not use the same in-browser analytics tools as the App
- You may lose access to your App progress if you delete your account, and you may lose local Web Challenges data if you clear your browser storage
- We are not responsible for data loss due to technical issues beyond our control
8. Service Availability and Modifications
We strive to maintain the availability of the App and Web Challenges but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. They may be temporarily unavailable due to:
- Maintenance and updates
- Technical issues
- Circumstances beyond our control
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App or Web Challenges at any time without prior notice. We may also add new features or impose limitations on certain features.
9. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
The App may offer paid content and features (including Squiz Plus) as in-app purchases or auto-renewing subscriptions where permitted by the stores.
- All purchases and subscription billing are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play under your store account; payment terms, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are governed by the applicable store’s rules and your agreement with that store
- We may use authorized third-party tools (for example subscription status services) to validate entitlements in the App; those tools operate subject to the store’s and our providers’ terms
- Subscription prices and available plans are as displayed in the App and/or the store at the time of purchase; we may change offerings or pricing for new purchases as permitted by the stores
- Cancelling a subscription or stopping renewal is done through your store account subscription settings; removing your Squiz account, clearing app data, or uninstalling the App does not replace that step
- Refunds, billing disputes, and payment issues are handled by the store according to its policies
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- We shall not be liable for any loss of profits, revenues, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim
11. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App or Web Challenges immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including:
- Breach of these Terms
- Fraudulent or illegal activity
- Violation of applicable laws
Upon termination, your right to use the affected service will cease immediately. You may delete your App account at any time through the App settings.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms, the App, or the Web Challenges shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of jurisdiction.
14. Contact Information
If you have any questions about these Terms of Service, please contact us at contact@squiz-app.com.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
16. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Squiz regarding the use of the App and Web Challenges and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
17. Waiver
No waiver of any term or condition of these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or condition or any other term or condition.
